Why Attend?
At Legacy Place Society, we believe in creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone—especially first responders, veterans, and their families. Life’s challenges can leave scars, both visible and invisible, but these marks are often symbols of survival.
Through our programs, transitional housing, and crisis support, we provide individuals with the tools and environment they need to share their stories, embrace healing, and begin new chapters in their lives.
In 2022, we broke records, offering nearly 1,000 additional nightly stays over the previous year! These numbers reflect our commitment to meeting the growing needs of those we serve.
A Space for Reflection and Connection
Our AGM is not just a meeting—it’s a celebration of resilience and a chance to:
- Hear stories of impact from the past year
- Learn about our goals for 2023
- Connect with like-minded individuals and supporters
Together, we can continue making a difference in the lives of first responders, veterans, and their families.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training December 10 & 11, 2022 Edmonton. Open to First Responders, Military Personnel and Veterans.
Together, we can prevent suicide. The vast majority of people who attempt suicide and receive a caring intervention do not re-attempt. This class teaches you how to skillfully respond to people considering suicide.
Attending this two-day course will train you to intervene with an individual who is thinking about suicide.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. Although ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, participants don’t need any formal training to attend the workshop—anyone 18 or older can learn and use the ASIST model.
Focusing upon the role of ASIST caregivers in a suicide-safer community, the goal of ASIST is to train caregivers who are willing, ready and able to provide life-assisting, suicide first aid. Studies show that the ASIST method helps reduce suicidal feelings and is a cost-effective way to help address the problem of suicide.
All participants who complete the course (14 hours of instruction time) will receive a certificate of participation.
ASIST is recognized by Canadian Accreditation Council Of Human Services (CACOHS) and the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB). Participants who have current ASIST certificate can obtain 14 hours of Category A professional development credits. If you do not belong to ASWB, please check with your professional association to see if you qualify for credits.
Legacy Place Society is hosting this December 10 & 11, 2022 ASIST Class. Normally cost is $250 per person, however sponsorship funding has been provided by Living Hope and from 3rd party fund raisers for Legacy Place Society. Your $100 deposit will be refunded once you’ve completed the class. If you are not in attendance Legacy Place will be charged the full $250 and you will NOT receive your deposit. Contact Legacy Place Society at 403-201-9945 if further questions.

Join Us to Raise Awareness for PTSD in First Responders and Military Personnel
About This Event:
Participate in our 24-hour walk to raise awareness for PTSD and mental health challenges faced by law enforcement, emergency medical/fire services, 911 dispatchers, veterans, and military personnel. Whether you can walk the full 24 hours from 10 am on October 1 to 10 am on October 2, or prefer to complete your distance at a later time and location, your participation makes a difference.
Support for First Responders:
We all know someone impacted by trauma, compassion fatigue, or physical and psychological strain due to their career as a first responder. No one should walk this journey alone. Together, we can help break the stigma around seeking support and promote healing for our heroes.
The psychological toll of these professions is profound, with lasting effects on mental health. We need to step up and ensure that first responders receive the help they deserve. Join us in promoting restoration, healing, and wellness. Break the stigma of PTSD as a community.
