History of Legacy Place Society

Founded in 1997 by a group of Calgary and Edmonton Police Officers in response to a troubling trend of suicides and challenges faced by First Responders and Military Personnel transitioning from work to home life, Legacy Place Society serves as a confidential sanctuary offering empathetic support and accommodations during times of crisis for individuals and families.

Since its inception, Legacy Place has provided over 51,000 nightly stays across its three locations in Calgary, Edmonton, and Red Deer, expanding its support to include Military Personnel in 2010 due to a lack of available resources and the shared experiences between professions. Our mission is to provide empathetic and confidential support that builds resilience within our First Responder and Military Families, while our vision envisions accessible resources to bolster resilience on an individual and familial level.

We cherish values of Family, Empathy, Diversity and Inclusivity, Confidentiality, Collaboration, and Integrity, offering a range of programs including peer support, education bursaries, scholarships, resiliency workshops, humanitarian missions, and family camps to address the multifaceted challenges faced by our community heroes.
