Supporting First Responder Families with Education

Breaking Down Financial Barriers to Mental Health

The Legacy Place Education Bursaries program aims to break down financial barriers to mental health services. Our initiative is centered on providing support to individuals in crucial occupations who may face challenges accessing mental health professionals.

What are Legacy Place Education Bursaries?

The Legacy Place Education Bursaries program is dedicated to removing financial obstacles that prevent access to mental health services. We support professionals such as 911 dispatchers, firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and military personnel, ensuring they receive the care they need. Our initiative is designed to assist those who serve our communities by offering financial aid for mental health services. We aim to make a significant impact on the well-being of first responders and essential workers.

Dedicated to Empowering First Responders and Essential Workers

Our support helps individuals connect with qualified mental health professionals, including psychologists and psychotherapists holding a Master’s or PhD in Psychology or Social Work. To receive financial assistance, funding requests must be submitted in writing by a licensed mental health professional. Eligibility for financial aid is based on available donor contributions.

Eligibility for Bursaries

Funding eligibility is extended to individuals engaged in specific occupations, including 911, EMS, or Fire Communications Officers (Call Taker/Dispatcher), Correctional Officers (inclusive of parole and Probation Officers), Firefighters, Military personnel (Air Force, Army, Navy), Paramedics, Police Officers, and Peace Officers as defined by the Criminal Code of Canada. Those serving in these essential roles may qualify for financial support to access mental health services through our Education Bursaries program.

During the inquiry process, individuals will be prompted to disclose whether they have utilized workplace-provided benefits, union benevolence, personal insurance coverage, or explored other agency possibilities. Additionally, we recommend pursuing inquiries through organizations such as Wounded Warriors and TEMA to ensure a comprehensive approach to obtaining support. This step aims to consider and maximize all available avenues for assistance beyond our Education Bursaries program.
