Tax Benefits

What are the tax benefits to donating?

Your contribution to Legacy Place Society, whether in the form of cash, securities, or other assets, can qualify for significant charitable tax credits. These credits can effectively reduce both your federal and provincial income tax obligations. When you donate to Legacy Place Society, your tax receipt will be promptly issued, making it easier for you to manage your tax filings.

For individuals with an annual taxable income of less than $235,675:

  • The first $200 of your charitable donations entitles you to a tax credit of 25% (10% provincial and 15% federal).
  • Charitable gifts exceeding the initial $200 qualify for a tax credit of 50% (21% provincial and 29% federal).

Tax Receipts and Refund Policies

In accordance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations, official donation receipts can only be issued in the name of the individual or organization who is the true donor. Gifts not eligible for charitable tax receipts may not be submitted electronically through our website. Non-eligible gifts may include: group donations, event proceeds, ticket sales, or sponsorships.
