LEGACY PLACE SOCIETY
Legacy Place Society is an essential confidential service empathetically supporting the individuals and families of First Responders, Veterans, and Military Personnel by means of immediate and proactive wellness initiatives.
OUR IMPACT
Legacy Place Society is committed to supporting First Responders, Veterans, and Military Personnel and their families through individual and collaborative wellness initiatives, providing critical support during times of crisis, and assisting in meeting various aspects of life’s wellness needs.
About Legacy Place Society
Legacy Place Society exists to build family resiliency and legacies to withstand the unique challenges faced by Law Enforcement, Peace Officers, Emergency Medical and Fire Fighter Services, 911 Dispatchers, Veterans and Military Personnel. The very nature of daily work within these professions can create emotional and physical havoc and the vicarious trauma, PTSD, operational or occupational stress injuries and the psychological and physiological demands of the profession can become major stressors on the individual and their family.
Often what is faced as a family as they try to understand and be supportive during recovery while maintaining family stability is a wide variety of challenges. Legacy Place Society does not replace employee assistance programs or professional medical counsel.

A Message from the Executive Director
It is a privilege to serve alongside the remarkable individuals who make up the Legacy Place Society family—people defined by integrity, honor, and an unwavering commitment to others. I hold the utmost respect for those who have chosen careers in public service, and it is my sincere wish that they and their families experience lives grounded in strength, connection, and well-being. Thank you for all that you do.

Our sustainability strategies will continue to evolve, ensuring we remain responsive and resilient in the face of changing needs.
At the core of our work is a commitment to acting as a confidential bridge of support for first responders and their families. Through our confidential phone line, Legacy Place Houses, and growing programming and educational partnerships, we provide safe, trusted pathways to care. Our approach is rooted in helping individuals and families gain perspective, navigate and heal from trauma, and steer through adversity with strength and support. We work to reframe difficult realities, foster a sense of community, and build behaviors that are conducive to rest, recovery, and sustainable recharge.
The insight and lived experience of our Legacy Place community continue to guide our direction. Participation in programs and initiatives informs our committees and Board, ensuring we remain focused on what matters most and where we can have the greatest impact.

Alberta Land Acknowledgment:
We acknowledge that what we call Alberta is the traditional and ancestral territory of many peoples, presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8. Namely: the Blackfoot Confederacy – Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika – the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda, and the Tsuu T’ina Nation and the Métis People of Alberta. This includes the Métis Settlements and the Six Regions of the Métis Nation of Alberta within the historical Northwest Metis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
