Legacy Place Society invites you to our Annual General Meeting! A great time to catch up with us and learn more about our initiatives and direction over the past year and as we transition into 2023.
Every now and then, we are fortunate to meet someone who changes the trajectory of our life and leaves an everlasting impression on us. People around us carry scars, some visible, others not so visible. Many suffer with mental injuries, mental illness, abandonment, rejection and much more. Unless the individual finds the courage to speak up, release a few sound bites, shed a few tears and be accepted for where they’re at, the ways of coping will become very damaging and make circumstances worse. We all have a journey and challenges in life. The scars are a sign of survival. Judgement, condemnation, criticism and labeling suppress any opportunity to release the pressure or demons someone is struggling with.
By creating a welcoming and safe place, demonstrated by consistent actions of integrity and confidentiality, we help others to share their stories of despair, courage, perseverance and courage. This helps provide validation at an emotional and psychological level, at times releasing a dam of raw emotion and uncertainty. Some stories are relatable, acknowledging we all struggle and lose hope at times. While we hold space for others to share and the means of a warm house, a bowl of soup, a bedroom where the door can be closed and a good cry can happen on the other side, we can provide quite possibly for the very first time, a break in their confusion and a start of a new beginning.
Did you know… we broke our nightly stays record of approximately an additional number of 970 nights over our previous record year in 2021.
