Since 2017, Legacy Place Society has worked alongside local Alberta first responder agencies and military personnel to host Suicide Awareness Conferences in Calgary and Edmonton. These annual events have reached over 4,000 attendees, including first responders, their spouses, partners, and friends. Together, they represent critical sectors such as Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Services, 911 Dispatch, Veterans, and the Canadian Armed Forces.
Transforming Conversations About Mental Health and Suicide
These conferences have reshaped the conversations surrounding mental health, suicide prevention, and overall wellness. As a result, attendees walk away with hope, practical insights, and new connections. The events also create a space for sharing resources and fostering meaningful networks. By addressing these topics openly, Legacy Place Society works to build lasting support for both responders and their families.
