The Oxford Group and Kingsway Mall and the volunteer committee of Elevate Edmonton is back once again in building momentum and awareness at the 3rd Annual First Responders Day in Edmonton on June 2, 2018!
First Responders and Military Personnel are tough. It’s part of their job. But they’re also human. Behind their uniforms are personal stories, history and empathy. They may be fast acting and always willing to put courage and valour first, but they need support following a crisis. This support is very important for future occupational health, morale, job performance and satisfaction.
Evidence shows that reducing stigma around mental health, raising awareness, building resiliency and developing health coping skills are effective strategies to help prepare for and deal with some of the situations first responders and military personnel may encounter on the job.
Having the City of Edmonton rally together for this day of honour and celebration creates opportunities to collaborate, connect and learn about the unique challenges our men and women in uniform experience. It’s a collective opportunity to learn how they work through these challenges and to say thank you for their courage, strength, and sacrifice.
This event will also bring attention to Legacy Place Society (Registered Charity #891549420RR0001 https://legacyplacesociety.com who does much more than providing a safe respite for individuals and families of First Responders and Military Personnel in crisis. It is also directly engaged through contributory and collaborative activities such as advancing awareness of mental health through conference management, peer support and family resiliency workshops.
We anticipate large crowds again at the 3rd Annual First Responders Day on June 2, 2018 from 10am to 2pm in the Kingsway Mall parking lot. The day will feature a Canine Unit Take-down demo, a Vehicle Extraction demo using the jaws of life, a 50ft ladder fire truck, a Rapid Deployment Hospital unit, a Tactical Armored Truck, Canadian Armed Forces vehicles and much much more!
Our partnerships with the business community are an important part of the success of First Responders Day and we would greatly appreciate your support by way of sponsorship or other in-kind donations on the day of the event. Also, if you would be willing to have event posters at your business to promote this incredible event please let us know.
