Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)

Together, we can prevent suicide. The vast majority of people who attempt suicide and receive a caring intervention do not re-attempt. This class teaches you how to skillfully respond to people considering suicide.

What is ASIST?

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety.

2 Day Workshops

Legacy Place Society presents an essential opportunity for growth and community impact through our upcoming 2-day ASIST training workshops. Tailored exclusively for first responders, healthcare workers, veterans, and military personnel, this program offers a foundational understanding of suicide prevention techniques.

During this workshop, participants will gain Applied Suicide Intervention Skills, equipping them to effectively engage with individuals in crisis. By learning to recognize signs of suicidal ideation and collaboratively developing safety plans, attendees will be empowered to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

This interactive workshop, accessible to individuals 18 and older, requires no prior formal training, emphasizing its inclusivity and relevance to all. However, we recommend against participation for those recently bereaved by suicide.

What is the cost?

The cost for each participant is $365, which includes a ASIST workbook as well as 14 hours of educational credits.

Legacy Place Society will be covering your cost on account of kind and generous donors and fundraisers directed to Legacy Place Society.

ASIST PARTICIPANT

I’ve been to 5 coworkers funerals due to suicide, plus many others that I didn’t personally know.  If all first responders had this course along with it’s practical teaching on resilience, those numbers would be a lot less.  This course allowed me to be confident in understanding the bigger picture as I see others struggle.  It gave me tools to also save my own life.  Thank you Legacy Place Society.”
